タバコの葉に含まれる「ニコチン」に、脳神経細胞の再生を促す効果があることが、金大医薬保健研究域薬学系の米田幸雄教授らによって確認されました。ネズミの脳細胞にニコチンを加えたところ、神経細胞が増加したそうです。もしこれを人間に適用できれば、アルツハイマー病や脳卒中後遺症、パーキンソン病などの予防、治療法開発に繋がるかもしれません。
